The 1996 Marshall Thundering Herd football team represented Marshall University in its final season in NCAA Division I-AA. It was their second national championship in school history as they had an undefeated 15-0 record.
This was a tremendous occurance after their horrific occurance. On November 14, 1970, Southern Airways Flight 932, which was chartered by the school to fly the Thundering Herd football team, coaches, and fans to Kinston, North Carolina for a game against the East Carolina University Pirates and back to Huntington, crashed on approach to Tri-State Airport after clipping trees just west of the runway and impacting nose-first into a hollow. All seventy-five people on board died. It was the worst single air tragedy in NCAA sports history. This led to the inspired movie, "We Are Marshall".
This is a beautiful ring which rarely becomes available to the public:
- Manufactured by Jostens.
- 10K gold ring with 15 CZ stones surrounded by a green glass accent.
- Size: 13 3/4.
- Left shank says "Cline", helmet with MU, and NCAA. After researching, it is unconfirmed if Cline was a player or a staff member.
- Right shank says, "Marshall", "SC Champions", and "15-0".
Condition: NRMT
